Two HNLC men in police net post IED blast
Shillong,July 20: The arrest of four overground workers of HNLC in connection with the IED blast at Police Reserve, Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills, has led the police to nab two active cadres of the militant outfit.
In a statement issued by the assistant inspector general of police GK Iangrai, the two cadres were involved in unfurling of HNLC flag in 2019 besides attempting to cause an IED explosion at a coke factory in Khliehriat.
They have been identified as Damecha Syrti and Ri – ia -i – dame Ymbon.
Earlier on Monday, police arrested the four HNLC overground workers who were involved in the IED explosion at the Police Reserve.
According to the statement of the accused , all of them boarded a vehicle and thereafter, went to Police Reserve to place the IED.
They waited for an opportune time and on the intervening night of July 13 and 14, they triggered the explosion which resulted in minor damage of the police building and injury to a police personnel.
“The investigation of the case is still in progress and the investigation team is on the lookout for other activists of the proscribed organisation who are involved in the case”, Iangrai said.
