Shillong, May 12: Education Minister Rakkam Sangma has urged the Centre to defer the dates for holding CUET-UG to accommodate students in Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Rakkam said the officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA) will visit the state to assess the preparedness for holding the CUET-UG.

The minister also wrote to Director General, NTA, on Monday seeking his intervention.
He said after the Chief Minister had petitioned union education minister on May 10, the NTA responded regarding the need to have more centres in the state itself.
The state government has identified over 200 additional computer nodes to support the smooth conduct of CUET-UG 2025 within Meghalaya.
As physical inspections of the identified locations will take time, the minister requested the NTA that the CUET-UG 2025 examination dates for Meghalaya be deferred until the additional centres are verified and ready for allocation. The purpose is to accommodate all candidates from Meghalaya within the state, thereby avoiding the challenges associated with long-distance travel.
