Shillong, May 19: Two persons were hospitalised after assault by a mob over fake job offer, on Sunday night.
According to police, information was received that on May 18 one person who is suspected to be a fraudster was detained by people of more than 100 in numbers at Long Range, Thembasuk, Madanrting. On arrival of the police from Madanrting police station, one of the alleged accused, Amar Balmiki was taken into custody at the place of detention.
It was learnt that the accused has collected money from more than 300 people from different places of East Khasi Hills with a promise to provide jobs in the Army.
The accused asked all the victims to come to Long Range to discuss on the recruitment. However, when the public reached there, he could not give satisfactory answers to the queries of the victims and they understood that there is no recruitment at all. The public then suspected that they have been cheated by the accused person . One more person Sujan Sharma was brought to Madanrting police station by the public suspected to be an accomplice of Balmiki. Hence a case has been taken up under relevant sections of law.
