Mahila Congress seeks amusement park for children

Shillong, May 28: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress has urged the state government to consider the urgent need for a proper amusement park for children in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Mahila Congress highlighted the growing concern among parents and families who are compelled to travel to neighbouring states to access quality recreational spaces for their children. The absence of a suitable amusement park within Meghalaya not only deprives children of their right to safe and joyful play spaces but also imposes unnecessary travel burdens on families.
“We believe that our children deserve to have a place where they can enjoy their weekends, holidays, and free time within their own state,” said Joplyn Scott Shylla, President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress. “A proper amusement park will not only support children’s development but also boost local tourism and provide employment opportunities.”
The Mahila Congress said it believes that investment in child-friendly infrastructure is a reflection of a government’s commitment to inclusive growth and community welfare. They urged upon the chief minister and relevant departments to take immediate steps toward planning and developing a modern, safe, and inclusive amusement park in Meghalaya.
‘This appeal reflects the voice of countless families and stands as a reminder that every child in Meghalaya should have access to joyful, healthy recreational experiences—without needing to leave their home state”, she added.
