EJH DC prohibits sale of ice cream to prevent Covid
Children develop fever after consumption
Shillong, Aug 4: The East Jaintia Hills district administration has collected samples from the ice cream peddlers to ensure that the ice cream they are selling is not contaminated with Covid-19 virus.
In an order issued on August 2, Deputy Commissioner E Kharmalki said that it has been brought to his notice that children are consuming ice cream sold by ice cream peddlers on the roadside and these children develop fever.
“And in order to ensure that the ice cream is not contaminated with Covid-19 virus, the Food & Safety Officer, Khliehriat is hereby deputed to collect samples from the ice cream peddlers randomly in Ladrymbai, Khliehriat areas immediately,” he said.
The deputy commissioner also directed that all ice cream peddlers in the district are not allowed to sell ice cream till confirmation reports are received from the authorised testing laboratory.
