Shillong, Sept 23:The court-appointed committee headed by retired justice BP Katakey said it was assessed that over 18,000 metric tonnes of coal are still missing from East Jaintia Hills alone.
Katakey held a meeting with the officials here on September 22.

According to Katakey, the missing coal is from 138 of the 15,000 coordinates.
He also pointed out that 33 coke plants are operating in Jaintia Hills, and the government was apprised about the matter.
Katakey has also submitted the 32nd report on coal to the High Court.
