Shillong, Jan 6: Police have recovered 55 suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition from a bamboo grove in South West Garo Hills.
According to a statement by Vikash Varma, the SP, South West Garo Hills, on January 6, acting on reliable source information, a police team from Salmanpara and Ampati police stations, South West Garo Hills, conducted a search operation in the bamboo grove near Santogre village, under Salmanpara police station.
During the operation, the police team unearthed ammunition buried under the bamboo grove.
The team recovered 55 numbers of suspected live anti-aircraft ammunition.
The recovered items were seized in the presence of independent witnesses. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and other related details, the official said.
The SP said that if any person has any information about the miscreants involved in any illegal act, they are requested to inform the local police station immediately. “Their identity shall be kept secret, and suitable reward shall be given”, the SP added.
