Bose resigns as Bengal governor; RN Ravi to be new guv

Bose's resignation comes ahead of the Assembly elections; Trinamool Congress questions move, blames BJP

Shillong, Mar 5: Former governor of Meghalaya RN Ravi will become the new governor of West Bengal after CV Ananda Bose resigned in New Delhi on Thursday.

Bose was the governor of West Bengal for three and a half years. He resigned, citing health issues. “Deeply concerned about the health condition of Hon’ble Governor; Dr. CV Ananda Bose, who is currently receiving medical care in the hospital. Wishing him swift and complete recovery. May he gets discharged soon,” BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari wrote on social media.

Questioning the timing of Bose’s resignation just before the Assembly elections, West Bengal Minister of State for Finance, Health and Family Welfare, Land and Land Reforms, Refugee and Rehabilitation, Chandrima Bhattacharya, posted a video on social media, wondering whether the BJP had any role to play in this.
“Why did West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose suddenly resign? Was it under BJP’s pressure? With elections approaching, the timing raises serious questions. Appointing a new Governor without consulting the state government or Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is an attempt to undermine democracy,” the All India Trinamool Congress wrote in its X handle.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock and concern over the development.
