Two held for carrying drugs

Shillong, March 6: Two persons were arrested for supplying drugs.in East Jaintia Hills
An official statement in this regard said that a team of ANTF officers and personnel conducted checking operation in Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills.
During the operation, one Tata Sumo vehicle bearing Registration No. MZ-01-M-8625 was intercepted and subjected to search as per due legal procedure. The vehicle was found to be carrying two passengers along with the driver. Upon checking, from one of the female passengers’ possession, 19 plastic soap cases containing suspected contraband (heroin) were recovered, weighing 203.7 grams.
Further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a blue-coloured trolling bag belonging to the other passenger. The bag was found to contain suspected crystal meth (methamphetamine) weighing 10.145 kilograms. Preliminary analysis suggests that the individuals are part of a larger inter-state and cross-border drug trafficking syndicate.
The total value of the recovered and seized contraband is around Rs 51,13,24,000/- in the illegal market. It is the highest value recovery of NDPS substances by Meghalaya Police.
Case has been registered at the ANTF police station and team is actively working to establish the forward and backward linkages related to the case.
