The Hon’ble Chairman
Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Tura, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya
Subject: Resignation from the post of Chief Executive Member on moral grounds.
Sir.
Apropos to the above subject, I hereby tender my resignation from the office of the Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council with immediate effect.
During my tenure as Chief Executive Member, I have sincerely endeavoured to work for the welfare, development, and overall progress of the people of Garo Hills. In the course of my tenure, the Executive Committee under my leadership has also taken steps to pass and implement necessary rules, regulations, and laws as demanded by the people of Garo Hills, with the objective of protecting their rights, customs, and interests.
Several initiatives and developmental measures were undertaken with the sole intention of serving the people and strengthening the administration of the Council. However, it is also a matter of record that some initiatives meant for the benefit of the people could not be fully executed as certain circumstances prevented their implementation.
It has now come to my knowledge that 21 Hon’ble Members of the District Council have decided to bring a motion of no confidence against my leadership. In a democratic institution, the confidence of the majority of the Members is essential for the proper functioning of the Executive Committee.
In view of the above circumstances, and on moral grounds, I consider it proper and appropriate to step down from the office of the Chief Executive Member rather than continue in a position where the majority of the Hon’ble Members no longer repose their confidence in my leadership.
However, I wish to place on record that my commitment to serve the people remains unwavering. Public service does not depend on holding a particular office, and I shall continue to dedicate myself for the welfare and betterment of our people in whatever capacity I can.
I therefore request the Hon’ble Chairman to kindly accept my resignation from the post of Chief Executive Member.
Yours faithfully,
Shri. Albinush R. Marak
Chief Executive Member, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, West Garo Hills, Tura.
