NPP yet to decide on Rajya Sabha nominee

Shillong, May 8: NPP national vice president Sniawbhalang Dhar has said the party is yet to finalise its candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat, though the party in Garo Hills wanted to send James Sangma to Delhi.

In response to questions by reporters on Friday(May 8), Dhar said there is no problem with names being projected, while adding that the party would discuss the matter once  the tenure of MP WR Kharlukhi ends in June.

“We are yet to take a decision. Let his tenure complete first then we will sit as a party,” Dhar said.

Dhar also denied regional considerations while selecting the name. “We never think region-wise. Whatever the party thinks appropriate, we will go with that because it is a collective decision not a one-man show decision. The NPP is a very disciplined party. We always take everything on board,” he said.
