MSL 5: Mishon SSCC beat Lawbah for last available spot in pre-Quarterfinals

Shillong, May 8: Mishon SSCC booked the last available place in the pre-quarterfinals of the 5th Meghalaya State League with a thrilling 5-2 victory against Lawbah SC in Group F at Mairang on Friday.
The other match saw Shillong Lajong FC blank Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC 5-0 at Wahiajer in Group E.
Lawbah had to win by a big margin if they were to take second place away from Mishon but it was the latter who had an excellent start with three goals in the first half. Rekybart Ryntathiang (18′), Lawanphrang Kurbah (26′) and Banshimborlang Ryntathiang (29′) were responsible for the advantage swinging towards Mishon in the space of just over 10 minutes.
The second half was more even with two goals each. Lawbah found the mark through Mebadonbor Shangpliang (62′) and Adonydevy Riwan (80′) and Mishon through Lawanphrang L Mawnai (66′) and Stevenmark L Kynshi (82′).
Over in Wahiajer, 2019 champions Lajong scored all five goals in the second half thanks to Colinsalmon Lyngdoh (59′, 82′, 87′), Badondor Marbaniang (51′) and Donboklang Kharjana (80′).
Both SLFC and Lumphyrnai were already confirmed in first and second places before today.
Lajong will face Mishon in the pre-quarterfinals, with Lumphyrnai set to take on Group F winners Langsning.
Saturday will witness the last of the 104 group matches and it will be in Group G between Balmanduri FC and toppers Janepih YSCA at 3pm in Williamnagar.
