Shillong, May 21: Women were attacked for questioning drug abuse at Lum Survey, near Harijan Colony, on Thursday (May 20) night
According to a relative of the victims, they wanted to neutralise the drug supply in the area, but the suppliers attacked them, causing injuries.
“My pregnant wife and mother were attacked by them, resulting in injuries”, an affected man informed.
When contacted, an official with the Anti- Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) said that the team is helpless since the case should be taken up by the police.
The victims alleged that those who are encouraging the supply of drugs lodged a complaint with the police at the Cantonment Beat House.
They wanted an impartial investigation into the matter.
The incident comes after an awareness event held in Lum Survey recently.
