Shillong, June 6: Police are probing the simultaneous attacks on government vehicles in the wee hours on Saturday( June 6).
The arson cases came to the fore a day after the meeting of the North Eastern Council in the city on June 4. Several commuters had protested against blocking of the road for the easy movement of the VIPs.
A police officer said the probe was on to ascertain the motive of the arson cases.
According to East Khasi SP Vivek Syiem, some miscreants resorted to arson on police vehicle (ML02 5516 -old model Thar) at Kench’s Trace Beat House around 3 am where the hood and seat were burnt but was quickly doused off. Around the same time a heath department vehicle (Innova ML05W3399) parked on the road near Synod college Lumdiengjri was partially burnt . A third vehicle (SX4 ML05 F6060) belonging to NEEPCO which was also parked on the road side was partially burnt at Mawlai Phudmuri which incurred damages inside.
