MCA to take action based on women’s panel report: James

Shillong, June 9: Meghalaya Cricket Association president James Sangma said on Tuesday (June 9) that action will be taken based on the report of the state women’s commission on the sexual harassment case.

The women’s commission sought the suspension of the head coach and the termination of the service of the assistant manager.

“Received the copy of the women’s commission yesterday (June 8), we maintain zero tolerance towards sexual harassment cases or incidents, said the MCA president.

“They were found to be guilty of violations of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 ( the PoSH Act.  We will be following up directions in toto within 30 to 60 days. We will be issuing necessary orders’, James said.

He said since neither the internal committee on sexual harassment nor the ombudsman was set up by the previous office bearers, the committee will be formed soon by the new body.

“We have already appointed the ombudsman”, James added.
