
Shillong, June 21: A landslide has affected the traffic movement ahead of Laitlyngkot village on the Shillong-Dawki road.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal has issued the following advisory
ORDER
Whereas, information has been received that there is a major landslide along the Shillong-Dawki road at Chainage 25+200 which has resulted in complete cut-off of the road ahead of the main Laitlyngkot village;
Whereas, NHIDCL has informed that repair and restoration of the road will take a few days to complete;
Now, therefore, in the interest of public safety and to prevent any untoward incidents, the road along the Shillong-Dawki road will remain closed for public and vehicular movement from Laitlyngkot village onwards with immediate effect and until further notice by the District Administration.
People including Tourists are advised to not to commute along the Shillong-Dawki road. Alternatively, they can take the following two routes:-
1. Shillong-Sohra-Sohbar-Dawki
2. Shillong-Jowai-Amlarem-Dawki
All commuters are advised to:
Avoid travelling through the Shillong-Dawki Road beyond Laitlyngkot Village during the period of road closure.
Follow the diversion routes and directions issued by the Police, Traffic and NHIDCL personnel on duty.
Plan their journey in advance and allow additional travel time.
Cooperate with the authorities to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety.

Follow the weather alerts issued by the Indian Metrological Department (IMD).
