Election Commissioner reviews SIR preparedness

Shillong, June 24: Election Commissioner D Vivek Joshi reviewed preparedness for Special
Intensive Revision (SIR) in Meghalaya.
On June 23, the Election Commissioner interacted with the District Election Officer
(DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers(AEROs), and other election officials of Ri Bhoi District.
The review focused on the preparedness and implementation strategy for the Special Intensive Revision, including
training and capacity-building initiatives for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), EROs, and
AEROs.
On June 24, Joshi, held a review
meeting with the District Election Officer (DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and other election officials of East Khasi Hills District to assess the preparedness and progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls.
The Election Commissioner visited and inspected the polling stations at Sacred
Heart Boys’ Primary School, Mawlai under 15-Mawlai (ST) Assembly Constituency and Pine Mount Polling Station under 16-East Shillong (ST) Assembly Constituency.
During the inspection, he reviewed the facilities and infrastructure available at the polling stations and interacted with election officials regarding voter services, electoral rollrelated activities, and arrangements being made for the effective implementation of the
SIR programme.
As part of the visit, a tree plantation programme was also carried out at the polling station premises.
The Election Commissioner also interacted with young future voters and encouraged them to actively participate in the democratic process upon attaining the eligible age for registration as electors. He highlighted the importance of electoral participation and civic
responsibility in strengthening democracy
