Shillong, July 23: The union ministry of education has announced the temporary appointment of Prof. Saroj Kanta Barik, department of botany as NEHU Vice Chancellor.
The tenure of NEHU VC PS Shukla will end on July 26.

Sir, I am directed to convey that the President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is pleased to approve the proposal to hand over the charge of Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong to Prof. Saroj Kanta Barik, D/o Botany, the second senior most Professor in the University, after the expiration of the term of the incumbent Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University on 26.07.2026 till the new Vice Chancellor assumes the office.
