Shillong, Sept 18: The two suspected KSU activists, who were involved in injuring a police official, were sent to judicial custody for 14 days after they were arrested for the incident in the early hours on Monday (Sept 18).
The bike rider hit the additional SP (traffic) Lovish Garg and fled after the latter asked him to stop at Urkaliar during vehicle checking.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the SP ( traffic) Hari Prasanth said that the suspected KSU members were booked under various sections of BNSS, including attempt to murder, disobedience of an order issued by a public servant, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a public servant while discharging official duties. The scooty was also seized.
The condition of the injured official is stable.
The medical examination revealed that the accused had consumed alcohol, which may have compelled them to evade the checkpoint.
When pointed out that both the KSU and the relatives deny that they are union members the police official said that investigations were on to gather more details and maintained that they are suspected activists of the union.
