Shillong, Sept 24:The 3rd Shillong Book Fair will begin from September 25 to October 1 at State Central Library here.
The initiative is by National Book Trust, India (NBT-India), Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the State Department of Arts & Culture,
The seven-day fair will be inaugurated on September 25 by Arts & Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai, who will be the Chief Guest.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday ( Sept 24) the Joint Director of NBT Rakesh Kumar said the fair will bring together more than 80 book stalls, offering readers a wide range of books across subjects and genres.
Arts & Culture Director Camelia Doreen Lyngwa sought the participation of students, educators, families and book lovers to explore and purchase books. She said the initiative will encourage the culture of reading in the state.
Entry to the fair will be free, with a 10% discount available on books. The fair will remain open daily from 11 am to 7 pm
An official statement said the Shillong Book Fair is part of NBT’s continuing efforts to take books and reading closer to communities across the country and provide readers with greater access to diverse reading material.
The previous edition of the fair was held from 5–13 October 2024 at the State Central Library, Shillong, and featured a wide range of books in different Indian languages and genres.
