Shillong, Oct 5: Primary school teachers will take out a rally on October 7 to highlight their long-pending demands.
The All Meghalaya Primary School Teacher’s Association (AMPSTA) told reporters on Monday that the rally will begin at 10 am from the Golf Link Community Hall at Pynthorumkhrah and will move through Bishop Cotton Road, 4th Furlong and Polo Bazar before returning to the starting point.
The association, headed by general secretary FC Shullai, said teachers have been demanding retention of sanctioned posts in government and deficit schools after retirement, immediate filling up of vacant posts in lower primary schools, sanctioning of additional posts for single-teacher LP schools and implementation of the government JJexemption of primary teachers from BLO duty, regularization of left-out LP school teachers appointed prior to 2007 and of non-government LP school teachers, and deletion of the recent education department order dated July 27 this year relating to notified schools.
AMPSTA said despite representations, the government has failed to address the issues, leaving the association with no option but to hold the public rally.
