Shillong, Oct 10: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) wanted the Public Works Department (PWD) to remove pandals and other temporary structures erected along PWD roads.
According to the KSU, they are obstructing movement and causing inconvenience to the public.
In a letter to PWD Chief Engineer on Thursday, the Union said the matter was raised following complaints from stakeholders and the public at large.
“This letter is being submitted following numerous complaints received from stakeholders and the public at large regarding the obstruction and inconvenience caused by such constructions on PWD roads. These structures have been causing difficulties for the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians, particularly in areas where road space is already limited. It is important that they do not obstruct public roads or compromise the safety and convenience of the general public,” the KSU said..
