Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI): The Calcutta High Court on Friday ordered a complete ban on the sale and use of firecrackers, including green crackers, throughout West Bengal during Diwali, Kali Puja, Chhath Puja, Christmas or New Year owing to the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
A division bench comprising Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya and Justice Aniruddha Roy directed police to initiate legal action against anyone violating the ban.

It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) announced that only green crackers can be sold in the state during Diwali.
