‘Aashram-3’: Diggy questions Jha’s silence
Bhopal, Oct 26 (UNI): Rajya Sabha Member Digvijaya Singh said on Tuesday that Bollywood producer-director Prakash Jha’s silence over the controversy surrounding his web series ‘Aashram-3’ being filmed here is beyond comprehension.
“Mr Prakash, this ‘ideology’ will not spare anyone. Fascism is here. Don’t forget,” Madhya Pradesh’s former chief minister wrote in social media and shared a poem penned by Pastor Martin Niemoller who spoke against German dictator Adolf Hitler.
On Sunday, Bajrang Dal activists objected to the title and the screenplay of the series. Some persons threw ink on Jha when he came forward to talk to the protesters. A few videos of the ruckus show people running to save themselves and some being assaulted. Police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. A first information report was registered at Arera Hills Police Station against about half-a-dozen named offenders and 30 others.
State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said on Monday that the government will issue a permanent guideline in the wake of the dispute.
“Henceforth, the script will have to be submitted to the district administration and approval obtained prior to filming so as to guard against any scene that would hurt sentiments of members of any faith. If people come to this state for film-making, they are welcome. For a long time, an attempt is being made to target Hinduism through web series. In view of the feelings of the majority community, Jha should consider renaming the series,” Dr Mishra told journalists.
