Activist seeks probe into JJM irregularities

Shillong, June 16: Flaming B. Marak, District Secretary (Youth), Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Youth Power of India has urged the union minister of Jal Shakti to cause a probe into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission.

In a letter to the minister, Marak said that the state goverment has been implementing JJM  since 2019, however it is regretted  that there is large scale irregularities and improper  implementation of the project in entire Garo Hills.  “There are lot of complainants in almost each and every village, locality  and residence in entire Garo Hills region regarding the irregular implementation of JJM. Due to irregularities and improper implementation of JJM, genuine citizens of Garo Hills both from rural areas as well as from urban areas are being deprived of accessing the safe and clean drinking water which is clear violation and infringement of fundamental right of the citizens provided in article 21 of the Constitution of India.
