Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad selects state students to pursue education
Shillong, Jan 13: The Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad, has conducted the Talent Identification Programme twice—in FY 2022-23 and FY 2024-25.
The programme aims to identify 4 exceptional Class VI students from Meghalaya and award them full scholarships, covering their education all the way through to Grade 12, with each scholarship valued around Rs 1 crore for each selected student.
This is the second time the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, has conducted the programme in FY 2024-25, selecting 4 students and providing them with scholarships. The first time was in 2022-23, when four students were selected from Meghalaya, bringing the total number of students selected from the state to 8.
The Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad, Talent Identification programme identifies exceptional students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds with the sole purpose of providing academic opportunities for gifted students to explore, grow, and build community.
The Academy reaches out to its network of government and non-profit schools to nominate outstanding students in their classes in order to identify talented students from 6th Grade from diverse regions across India and the World. The Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
TID Programme Procedure
The Talent Identification screening tests were conducted in 3 stages.
At the school level, each school nominated or selected one academically brilliant student from Class VI to take the assessment.
Initial screening was conducted by the Office of the Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Meghalaya, using the MLENS (Meghalaya Learning Enhancement Network System) assessment platform. This year, 358 students appeared for the assessment, out of which 209 were shortlisted and handed over to the Aga Khan Academy for further selection.
The Aga Khan Academy,Hyderabad selection process has also 4 stages which is as as follows:
Stage 1-Non Verbal Ability(Written Exam)
Stage2-Maths&English (Written Exam)
Stage 3-Problem Solving & Dynamic Assessment(Written Exam & Interview)
Stage 4 –Interview
A total of 209 students were screened, 20 students with being chosen for the final interview.Finally, four AGK finalists were selected from among the 20 students based on their rankings in the categories.
