Shillong, Jan 5: The Meghalaya Trinamool Congress on Thursday welcomed SG Esmatur Mominin ( former NPP MLA) and Raliang MDC Robinus Syngkon as they joined the party in the presence of state president Charles Pyngrope and Legislature Party Leader Mukul Sangma.
Speaking to reporters, Mominin said he left the NPP as he was not happy with the way the NPP handled the issues related to border and teachers.
Apart from serving as a legislator from Phulbari Assembly constituency, Mominin had also served as an MDC from Shyamnagar on an NPP ticket and subsequently won. He was also the former Chairman of the state forest department.
Mukul also thanked Syngkon for joining the Meghalaya TMC family.
“Syngkon has been a man who has served the people in different capacities. First, as a government official, then as an elected representative to serve people from very difficult areas. He represented – in 2013 and 2018 – a very difficult area in our state, the Mowkaiaw constituency,” he said.
After serving as a District Transport Officer for eight years, Syngkon quit his job in 2013 as he was more interested in joining politics to serve the people.
During the 2013 Assembly election, he won as an independent candidate from Mowkaiaw Assembly constituency.
