Amit Shah cancels campaign in Shillong

Shillong,  Feb 21: BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his campaign in the city on Tuesday evening due to poor visibility at the airport in Guwahati and the  chopper could not land due to inclement weather.

Shah spoke to the gathering at Gorkha Pathshala Field in the city under West Shillong constituency on phone explaining his inability to come and the need to ensure a corruption free government.

He was to attend the public meeting at 4 pm at Gorkha Field. The announcement came at 5.45 pm.

People also waited for him at another venue at Golf Links under Pynthorumkhrah.

He was to address the rally here at 6 pm.

Some people left the venue at Gorkha Field after the telephonic speech of Shah.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on  said that the NPP, TMC and Congress also believe in 2 Ps – Paisa (money) and Pariwar (their own family).

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla was present.

At Golf Links , both Barla and Patra started their speech after paying tribute to Mother Mary, and then bowing before the elderly who were present at the venue.

Barla spoke about inclusive governance and development policies of the PM Modi-led BJP government. He said only the BJP has worked to actually empower the tribals and the minority communities of the state and the country, and has never planned to keep them dependent like the Congress did.
