Ampareen panel wants discussion on reservation
Shillong, May 29: The first meeting of the committee on ‘Reservation Roster’ headed by cabinet minister in-charge Law, Ampareen Lyngdoh wanted the government to discuss on the reservation policy.
“We will ask the government to extend the committee’s terms of reference beyond the roster system by allowing discussion on the job reservation policy”, Ampareen, who is the chairperson of the panel, told reporters on Monday.
Ampareen said, “We are going to request the government of Meghalaya to include a discussion on the job reservation policy at the earliest.”
VPP and KHNAM opted out of the meeting chaired by Ampareen.
VPP leader Ardent Basaiawmoit has reiterated that to end the fast, the government should make efforts to review the reservation policy.
The party handed over an official letter to the panel stating its inability to attend the meeting.
