Shillong, Aug 25: Shishu Sarothi, a Guwahati-based centre for rehabilitation and training for multiple disability, in partnership with Indus Towers Ltd has started the scholarships 2022-23 for higher studies which are to be awarded to 180 students with disabilities from the North East.
The scholarships are for academic or professional courses at levels ranging from higher secondary to post graduation or vocational/skill building courses. Additionally, young graduates who are preparing for government jobs or civil services examinations can avail scholarship for preparatory coaching.
A few scholarships are also reserved for students with disabilities from other states in India studying in Institutions of National Importance recognised by the Government of India.
The programme provides financial support for the scholars to cover educational expenses till the completion of their courses. Some deserving students will be provided support for specific requirements of study materials, assistive equipment and devices, conveyance allowance and hostel fees to facilitate and motivate them to complete the course of study.
