Shillong,Jan 8: Two armed men looted a petrol pump at 14th mile, near Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi around 5.30 am on Saturday.
According to a senior police official, around Rs 2. 5 lakh was looted from the highway carrier refilling centre.
The miscreants came in a bike and entered the petrol pump on the highway close to Sonapur in Assam.
While one of them wielded an AK rifle, another carried a pistol.
According to the police, from rhe language spoken, they are suspected to be from Assam and they fled away to Sonapur after committing the crime . “One of the was carrying an old AK rifle,,” the police said.
Assam police have also been alerted to arret the culprits .
Ri Bhoi SP Giri Prasad said a special team was formed to probe the matter and the team is coordinating with the Assam police .
A case was registered under Nongpoh PS. The case is NO 5(1) 2022 U/s 447/392/397/506/34 IPC R/W sec 25(1) (a) and 27(1) Arms act.
