Army Commander reviews operational preparedness, meets Guv

Shillong, June 15: Lieutenant General V.M.B. Krishnan, Army Commander, Eastern Command, visited Headquarters 101 Area, Shillong on  on June 12 and reviewed the operational and administrative preparedness of the formation.

During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on various operational, training and administrative aspects. He appreciated all ranks for their high morale, professionalism, steadfast commitment to duty and the adoption of innovative practices aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and overall readiness.

On June 13, the Army Commander interacted with Air Marshal I.S. Walia, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command. The discussions focused on enhancing synergy, jointness and inter-service cooperation to further improve operational effectiveness and preparedness in the region. Both commanders reaffirmed their commitment towards strengthening integrated operational capabilities and fostering closer coordination between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.

Later, the Army Commander called on the Governor of Meghalaya, Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar. During the interaction, they discussed matters pertaining to peace, harmony and security in the state. Deliberations also focused on strengthening military-civil fusion initiatives and fostering greater cooperation between the armed forces, civil administration and the local populace for the overall development and security of Meghalaya.

The visit underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining a high state of operational readiness, promoting joint-manship among the armed forces and strengthening civil-military cooperation in the region.
