‘Attrition rate high among Meghalaya youths’
Shillong, July 15: Executive Director PRIME Meghalaya Isawanda Laloo said attrition rate is high among the state youths who get jobs outside the state.
Speaking at the World Youth Skills Day on Saturday, Laloo said many youths get jobs outside the state especially in hospitality sector but they come back after a few months as they may not be able to adjust due to difference in culture and food habits or they may be feeling home sick.
The event was organised by Meghalaya Skills Development Society, state department of labour.
Laloo said the government is committed to ensure skill development of the state youths so that they can take up various skill-oriented jobs in the state.
The skill development society also uses available resources for quality trainings and placement linkages for wage employment and self employment.
Experience sharing, certificate distribution, award ceremony and entertainments marked the occasion.
