BJP justifies Hindi usage
Shillong, Feb 3: The BJP has justified the use of Hindi after the VPP had threatened to boycott the February 16 Budget session if the Meghalaya Governor addresses the House in Hindi without providing a translated version.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the BJP chief spokesperson M Kharkrang said there is nothing wrong in the use of Hindi language in Meghalaya added that Hindi is a national language.
Cabinet Minister AL Hek also said that since Hindi is a national language, there should not be any problem for its usage in the state.
Ampareen speaks on translated version
Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the speech of the Governor should be understood by all the legislators and hence there should be a mechanism to provide the translated version of the speech in a language understood by all.
