BJP makes Tripura free from extremism and violence: Rajnath

Agartala, Feb 8 (UNI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday claimed that the people of Tripura are now free from extremism and violence because the BJP formed the government with nationalist spirit in 2018.

Addressing an election rally with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in bordering constituency Rajnagar of South Tripura, Singh said, ” Now fencing has been erected along Tripura-Bangladesh border to prevent illegal entry from across the border. In Congress and CPI-M rule fencing was not done. Work started when the BJP formed the government at the Centre.”

During the communist government, militancy was at its peak. Nobody knew who would die, when, or how, until BJP came to Tripura. Now nobody has the guts to create law and order problems, he said and added, “In 2018 Chalo Paltai (lets change) was the slogan of BJP now we say ‘Chalo Susashan Ko Majboot banaye’ (let us strengthen the good governance).

“Our party is an India-level party not like CPI-M, a small state party. For the last 20 years, I have been visiting Tripura and have seen the condition. From 2005 to 2018 it was a government of CPI-M and it was lagging behind development. After 2018 the real development began and today it’s a new Tripura,” he stated.
