Shillong, April 23: Bihar Diwas was observed on Sunday under the banner of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat by BJP Unit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat at BJP State Office, Shillong in the presence of BJP State President Ernest Mawrie, office bearers, state executive members and other karyakartas alongwith the Bihari community in the spirit of brotherhood and unity.
Mawrie highlighted the achievements of the Bihari community and emphasised upon their contribution in nation building. Four achievers of the Bihari community alongwith huge number of the community were felicitated on this occasion. Poetry recitation and speech on the tradition and culture of Bihar by participants were the other highlight of the programme.
Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat is Central initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas which is the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This programme enhances and strengthens the bonding and understanding between citizens.
Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat encourages the sharing of best practices in India which is rich in its diversity.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Dipayan Chakraborty State Vice President and convener of Ek Bharat Sreshta Bharat, Arvind Yadav State Secretary and Deeya Rathore Co- Convener of the programme.
