Shillong, May 22: The state BJP on Sunday wanted a CBI probe into the damage to the Assembly building besides taking action against Badri Rai & Company who is executing the project after getting a subcontract from Uttar Pradesh-based Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd.
The BJP president Ernest Mawrie said action should be taken against the main company and state officials.
Mawrie alleged that the government is giving undue favour to Badri Rai & Company which was entrusted with projects like Polo shopping complex, PA Sangma stadium and several road projects including Resubelpara to Mendipathar and Phulbari to Rongram.
Earlier, the Executive Engineer of the PWD (Buildings) Ransom Sutnga hinted that the design of the dome may have led to the damage.
Design issue
However, Shailendra Kumar of Design Associates said the design was vetted by IIT Rourke and approved by the government.
Nadeem Kausar, deputy manager of the Uttar Pradesh-based Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, denied any defects in construction.
