Shillong, Mar 23: Congress candidate for Shillong Lok Sabha seat Vincent Pala is optimistic that though the BJP is with the NPP, the voters will support him.
When asked his response after the BJP extended support to NPP, the sitting MP said,” BJP is with NPP but the voters are with Pala”.
According to Pala, the BJP and the NPP have become bhai bhai but it will help him as their workers will support him.
Exodus from other parties
Over 40 members of different political parties joined the Congress at a meeting organised by the Mawryngkneng Block Congress Committee (MBCC) at Mawryngkneng in East Khasi Hills District on Friday.
They were welcomed by Pala.
Speaking at the meeting, Pala said, “If Congress is voted to power, we will bring various policies especially relating to youth development.”
The youth are not getting employment and the Congress will find out ways and means to resolve the issue, he said.
The Shillong MP also assured that the Congress will empower women folks through different programmes.
He urged the people to work unitedly to ensure victory to the Congress.
“We should forget about the MDC and MLA elections but we should come and work together in the MP election. In Garo Hills, many people have come back to the Congress,” Pala said.
He urged the people to extend their support to the party for the Shillong parliamentary constituency.
