BSF-BGB sign ‘joint record of discussion’ for border management

Shillong, Nov. 29: The three-day BSF-BGB regional conference culminated on Monday  with the signing of Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) by the leaders of both the delegations at Umpling BSF Campus.

Susanta Kumar Nath, IG BSF Tripura Frontier(left in picture) and Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander of South East Region Chattogram, jointly signed documents to carry forward the border management.

Hosted by the frontier headquarters, BSF Meghalaya, the ‘Inspectors General BSF-Region Commanders BGB Level Border Co-Ordination Conference’ started from November 27.

The conference is held bi-annually between the two border guarding forces to discuss the issues related to smuggling of cattle, drugs, FICN, contraband items, insurgent groups and to resolve the matters having security bearing along the Indo-Bangladesh border to maintain peace and tranquillity.

The BGB delegation consisting of 10 members was headed by Chowdhury and  from the BSF, the Indian delegation was led by Nath, along with 11 members from Meghalaya, Guwahati, Silchar and Tripura Frontiers of BSF.

Representatives of MHA, MEA and NCB also attended the conference.
