BSF hands over B’deshi minor to BGB

Shillong, Sept 26: The BSF has handed over a Bangladeshi minor boy to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

In a statement on Sunday, the BSF said the boy was apprehended in India along with a Bangladeshi lady known as Begum (35) on September 24 when the troops of border out post responded to specific intelligence inputs.

The woman is a resident of Shantinagar, and the minor boy is from Naljuri. Both are from Sylhet districts of Bangladesh.

The woman along with the minor boy had crossed the unfenced area.

According to the BSF, the Bangladeshi woman revealed that she brought the minor boy to help her in carrying items meant for smuggling to India.

Later, on September 25, the boy was handed over to the BGB during a flag meeting in the presence of police personnel as a goodwill gesture.

The woman was handed over to Baghmara police station.

Inderjit Singh Rana, Inspector General of BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, in a statement, said the BSF always adopts a humanitarian approach in cases where victims are minors.
