Shillong, Mar 2: The BSF shot dead a villager identified as Arsen Marak in Shella village on Friday night.
East Khasi Superintendent of Police Rituraj Ravi said on Saturday that the post mortem is being carried out.
However, no one has filed any FIR but the investigation was on.
The BSF claimed that they opened fire in self defence as they were being attacked and threatened, according to the SP.
Recently, several reports of clash between the BSF and the villagers were reported and the matter was also raised in the Assembly.
