BSF recovers fake currency notes in EJH border

Shillong, Feb 8: The BSF Meghalaya has confiscated fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs 55,000 from the International Border of East Jaintia Hills.
The BSF said during the night hours on February 7, troops of 172 Bn BSF detected some suspicious movement of miscreants coming from Bangladesh to India.

Upon challenging, miscreants fled away to Bangladesh taking advantage of darkness, hilly terrain and thick vegetation. On searching the area, BSF recovered a bag containing 105 fake Indian currency notes in denomination of Rs 500.
An FIR was lodged at PS Umkiang and the fake notes were handed over to the police. The BSF said the fake currency recovered is of very low grade, probably locally printed in Bangladesh.
