BWF World Tour Finals: Sindhu starts campaign with a clinical victory

Bali, Dec 1 (UNI): Reigning world champion PV Sindhu started her challenge at BWF World Tour Finals with a straight-set win over Denmark’s Line Christophersen here on Wednesday.
In the first game, Sindhu started off well and held a 2-0 lead. Christophersen challenged her in the rallies but the she maintained her cool and took 5-3 lead by attacking every corner on the court.
Then, the Dane equalised the scores at 6-6. Though Christophersen held brief leads at 7-6 and 8-7, but Sindhu went into the mid-game break with a 11-8 lead.
Christophersen committed couple of errors as her returns fell wide, Sindhu took advantage of it and secured a handsome 15-8 lead. The ace Indian shuttler maintained her momentum through the end and sealed the opening game by 14-21.
After the change of sides, Christophersen played better than the first game as she tried to put pressure on Sindhu with a slight 4-2 lead. Sidhu was 9-7 up thanks to her lovely smashes and drops shots.
Christophersen then took 4 points in a row to level the scores at 10-10. Later Sindhu lifted an amazing cross-court forehand shot and went into the interval with the scores reading 11-8.
Sindhu forced the Dane to commit errors and earned a 15-13 lead. Christophersen, meanwhile, tried to force a deciding game, but the Indian was too good and she pulled away to complete a 21-14, 21-16 win.
