‘Pala disliked Umroi MLA as he was vocal against coal mining’

Shillong, Dec 1: Congress leader James Lyngdoh, who quit the party on Wednesday,  alleged that the MPCC president Vincent Pala disliked the comments of  Umroi MLA George Lyngdoh against illegal coal mining and related issues.

Speaking to reporters, James said George  joined the Congress in 2014 when there was no organisational set up in Umroi and he organised the party there.

“He is a hard-working young leader and we are  proud of him. As state social media coordinator he strengthed the social media, youth wing of the party. George always spoke against petrol pumps not paying taxes, against trucks carrying beyond the permitted loads and also against illegal transportation of coal by trucks”, Lyngdoh said.

He alleged that Pala had asked George to tone down his comments else he may lose the elections.

James alleged that there was a plan  to deny ticket to George in 2023.
