Cabinet nod to member, information commission, heads of MBoSE & MSCTE

Shillong, Aug 25: The sate cabinet has approved the appointment of a full time secretary of the Meghalaya State Council of Technical Education (MSCTE), executive chairman of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) and member of State Information Commission.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Law Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said it has been a felt need that the government should install a full time secretary of the MSCTE considering the fact that the polytechnics are almost in several districts including Shillong, Tura and Jowai and four more are also in the pipeline.

A. Ali, the current additional director, Directorate of Higher Technical Education will retire shortly and it has been decided in the cabinet that she will be the first time full time secretary of the MSCTE for 24 months, she said.

The minister said the cabinet has approved the appointment of CP Marak, who is a retired Indian Forest Officer, as executive chairman of MBOSE for a period of 12 months.

Another appointment is that of  Ripnar Lyngdoh who will be a member of state information commission.

The cabinet also approved the change of the Captain Williamson Sangma Technical University to Captain Williamson Sangma State University.

Judicial service 

Cabinet also approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Judicial Service Rules, 2006 and Meghalaya Higher Judicial Services Rules, 2015. “The amendment proposes to omit the provisions providing recruitment of judicial officers by the commission and after the amendment, the recruitment will be done by the high court of Meghalaya. Further, wherever the word Gauhati High Court appears, this word will be substituted by the word High Court of Meghalaya. The amendment also proposes to change the nomenclature of judicial officers as per directions of the Supreme Court,” she said.
