Shillong, June 30: The cabinet on Tuesday approved the rationalisation of the promotional hierarchy under the Meghalaya Civil Service Rules, 1975.
To provide better career progression for Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers, the cabinet has approved the creation of four new posts of Special Secretary (Level 22 on the pay scale). This will open up an additional avenue for promotion for officers whose career progression is often limited beyond the Head of Department level.

The decision also addresses a long-standing demand of the MCS Association and reflects our commitment to recognising, supporting, and creating greater opportunities for our officers as they continue serving the people of Meghalaya, said Chief Minister Conrad .Sangma.
