Shillong, July 19: The cabinet has approved renaming of 10 roads and two buildings.
After the meeting on Friday , Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the approach road from national highway 217 to Bagmara Bong Market which is about 1.7 kilometres will be renamed as captain Williamson Sangma road, then also the Raitong building is proposed to be named as Lum Shillong building.
The cabinet also agreed to rename PA Sangma Road to Holy Cross Hospital in Tura as Bishop George Mamalassery Road.
The chief minister said there is a proposal for the road from Sohra Gate Nongsawlia via Saitsohpen to Mawsmai road to be named as U Thomas Jones road.
“There were some proposals for naming of the road from Mawkhar Community Hall to Jaiaw Langsning community hall which is about 800 metres to be named as Dr Hugh Gordon Robert road, then the GNM school of nursing Nongpoh to be named as GNM school of nursing Pahamsyiem Nongpoh,” he said.
