Shillong, June 3: The cabinet will take a decision on roster system and its implementation likely next week.
After the meeting with various groups in Tura on roster system on Saturday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that within a few days, the cabinet will meet to discuss on the roster system following which a decision will be taken.
The government had already stopped all recruitments till a decision is taken by the cabinet on the prospective implementation of the roster system.
Sources said the government may order recruitments to resume after a decision is made on the implementation of the roster system.
Chief Minister said that a detailed presentation on the working of the roster system was given to NGOs and Unions of Garo Hills.
The questions and concerns raised by the attendees of the meeting were addressed in the meeting, he said.
Reservation issue
Questions were also raised on the reservation policy and the expert committee.
The chief minister apprised the members that after the all party committee meeting, the decision was taken by the government on their suggestion to constitute the expert committee to review the reservation policy.
The expert committee will be asked to hold consultations with stakeholders, examine the background of the reservation policy at the state and national level and to submit a report of their findings to the government.
