“After I conveyed the concerns of the people regarding the railway project, the minister agreed to come to Shillong to hold talks with all stakeholders”,

According to the chief minister, if there is no breakthrough,  the Centre will either cancel the project or divert it to other areas of the state.

The pressure groups have been opposing the projects in Khasi Hills citing influx and demanding ILP as precondition to allow railway to come up in the Khasi Hills region.
