Children below 5 not allowed for Ed Sheeran concert

Shillong, Feb 10: Children below 5 years are not allowed for the Ed Sheeran concert scheduled for February 12 at JN Stadium, Polo Grounds here.
This was stated by the district administration which has made arrangements for the concert.
“The parents should note that they should not bring children below the age of five to attend the concert and those who come for concert can carry only three items – mobile phones, keys and wallets”, East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner RM Kurbah told reporters on Monday.
Kurbah said over 26000 people are expected to attend the concert and necessary arrangements have been made.
“We are opening the gates at 4 pm. We are a little bit concerned because we have just two entry points. That is why we have called this meeting to alert all those people who are coming for the concert to kindly come early so that there is no kind of rush,” she said.
The organiser said the opening performance will start at 6.15 pm.
There will be three exit gates.
The DC said the district administration is not planning to close down schools during the concert.
“We have to pre-empt and avoid students being stranded. We want to avoid that situation and that is why we are giving this alert”, she said.
Regarding traffic regulations, the district SP Vivek Syiem informed that there will be no entry points at many places and these include no entry at Lumjingshai junction towards CRPF junction, Polo, Lumjingshai towards Police colony, Lawmali junction towards Polo, Golflinks trijunction towards Polo, City Hut Dhaba junction towards Polo, BJP office towards Oakland, Polo, BK Bajoria towards Fourth Furlong, Gurudwara towards St Anthony’s college.
On the parking arrangements, the SP said, “We have several places where the general public can park their vehicles. The locations are – Red Field, Golflinks, roadside parking from TRS Restaurant to CM Connect office, roadside parking around Golflinks area, FCI junction to Lumjingshai junction, state central library campus and state convention campus.”
From the security aspect, Syiem said that there will be three points of checking before entering the stadium. He said that police will be handling the periphery along with the security component of the event management.
